References to district benefits or sick leave describe common arrangements and may not describe yours.
All coverage is subject to underwriting approval by the issuing carrier. Rates, availability, features and riders vary by carrier, state, age, health and product. Not all applicants qualify, and not all products are available in all states.
Accelerated or living benefit riders are optional features available on certain policies, not on all of them, and are subject to specific qualifying conditions defined in the policy.
Accelerating a benefit reduces the death benefit payable to beneficiaries and may reduce cash value. Receipt of an accelerated benefit may be taxable and may affect eligibility for public assistance programs. Consult a tax adviser.
Indexed universal life policies carry cost-of-insurance charges, administrative charges and surrender charges that reduce policy value. Index-linked crediting is subject to caps, participation rates and floors that the carrier may change. Policy values are not guaranteed except where the contract states a guarantee, and a policy can lapse if funding is insufficient.
Ask for a full illustration showing premiums, charges, and guaranteed as well as non-guaranteed values before you apply.
A 403(b) is an employer-sponsored retirement plan. Life insurance is a separate product with a different purpose, different costs and different tax treatment. Nothing here is a recommendation to reduce or replace contributions to a retirement plan.
